Great reminder! Won’t be turning to anything that would hamper my already super slow snail losses or should I say bouncing around? Have a great weekend!
Do the math, 5 days at 500 deficit, versus 2 days at well let’s say 500 surplus, still makes for 1500 deficit in a week. only like half a pound but still. And that’s at a 500 surplus ! which is quite a bit of binging (not that some people won’t find it hard to get that done) Now 2500+ Cals above your maintenance level over 2 days to rally undo 5 days of dieting a 500 Cal deficit… now that’s something special.
Warning still stands though. (especially if you have less then a 500 Cal deficit)
hehehe Love that picture!
It is a great reminder! A recent study hypothesized this… I blogged about it but wish I had come up with that hit-home point: 2 days can erase 5.
Here’s the link to the article on the study: http://mednews.wustl.edu/news/page/normal/11972.html
Wazzup-You seem to be stuck in a frame of mind that people either eat over 500 calories or they eat under 500 calories. Just not the case. 1 meal at outback can be 2000 calories, for a girl who burns just that in a day if lucky it anything over that starts to wipe her deficit she created. Add a few cocktails, nibble here and “bite of that” there and the end up back where they started or moving so slow that they start to lose all motivation.
People get certain numbers in their head, that is part of the problem. No one burns the same amount everyday, they certainly don’t (without effort of trying) eat the same amount everyday, so your math is just to simplified and outdated.
In truth 1 day, hell a few hours can ruin a whole week. If it wasn’t the case this wouldn’t be so hard to achieve.
Hey Mike,
That study was the inspiration for the article. I couldn’t get the full text so I didn’t want to comment on it specifically BUT I wanted to make what I have seen stated.
Your blog is great, make sure to leave a link next time for us to read
Thanks Leigh… this was something I needed to hear today so that I can salvage tomorrow. Emotional eating sucks.
Ugh I would have loved to have read that on Friday for a reminder. Sunday’s on track though so maybe 1 day won’t ruin my last 5.
That is the way to look at it!
Nice site, I have added it to my favourites, Greetings.
