And just like that…your life can change
One of the best movies I have seen in a long time is Pay it Forward. If you’re not aware of the story, it’s based on the principle of someone in your life helping you and then you in turn help someone else.

The nobility and honor of that to me is absolutely intoxicating. I literally get giddy just thinking about it. For all my straight forwardness and no-nonsense approach I really am the biggest softy you will ever meet and love the good in humanity more than you could know. It’s really all in how you see things.
For instance, there’s a new Ikea commercial with a mom sitting on a couch reading a catalog. Her children are playing on the rug, dad is watching tv, a little girl is petting the dog, grandpa is sleeping and in the background a simple 3-chord guitar progression is playing.
In a instant the sweetest chaos breaks out in the room! Everyone is chasing each other around the couch in one of those moments of endearing family craziness and for some reason, right as that little dog takes that turn, I get this little jump in my heart and a smile comes to my face. It’s just a simple little commercial but the sense of family happiness projected is so much more than just a commercial about furniture. Oh they are good. I hope you see it and when you do you get a little smile thinking of me almost getting teary-eyed when that dog skids around that sofa.
Like I said it’s just how you see things; life is what you want to make it. Things are how you want to see them and change, making a new life for yourself, and it’s all in your hands.
However, sometimes that isn’t good enough. Sometimes you want to Pay it Forward.
Enter Sheila Viers.
Sheila Viers worked in a office, was good, no scratch that…great at her job. She came to me one day and asked for training and nutrition advice. Instantly I liked her. She just had this genuine way about her that led you to believe that she never told a lie in her life. And if, for some reason, she did that, then she is probably still thinking to this day about it even when it involved something as silly as spilling milk on the carpet.
Sheila had more questions then any client I had ever had at the time. She wanted that education, she wanted to know why. I loved that yearn to learn. I could relate to it; I am the same way. And as time passed talking to her and (her husband by the way) became one of my favorite things to do in the day. They were really the clients you dream of having. They wanted to learn, they followed my sometimes pretty gruesome orders, never once complained, and somehow still liked talking to me at the end of the day. And for the record I still talk to them almost every single day.
At some point, being who she is, that simple office job started not being enough for Sheila. All that knowledge, all that passion, all that drive just wasn’t being expressed. She had learned, she had opened up her mind to a new life. She just couldn’t go back to the grind even if she was good at it. So she did what almost everyone out there dreams of doing but never does. She followed her dream, she changed her life.
Just like that she decided that her mission wasn’t to sit in a office, it wasn’t to just get by. Instead, she decided she had to do something more (I mean I can’t tell you how worked up and driven she can get) and she had to do that something now.
So far she isn’t doing so bad.
With an amazing site with original posts, articles up on Figure Athlete.com, and…well the last bit you will have to wait and see, eh. She’s making her mark on the world, and she’s trying to play her role in the change. I don’t really know if I had anything to do with that (I am bashful in someway), but I would like to think I played a small part. To think that, for even a moment, well, it puts me on top of the world.
So with that…
World, readers, I would like you to meet Sheila Viers. Former client of mine, now paying it forward.

Go Sheila! Having witnessed her resignation and amount of confusion on people’s faces makes me so happy reading this article. She is really one of those inspirational stories that you hear about on Oprahs and such. How cool would it be if she inspires others to take that step towards their dream…
