8 simple ways to burn 100 calories

A lot of people think that you only burn a lot of calories when you work out. This isn’t the case at all and in fact the majority of my clients have more burn out of the gym than in it.

The next time you think about taking the elevator because you just worked out, think again. Daily activity makes a heavier increase in burn than you think.

Burning 100 calories is 100 calories closer to your goal than you were before. Do enough 100-calorie activities and you might just get that fat off of you sooner than you think. And the best part is you don’t have at be in a gym doing it. Just remember, this doesn’t give you an excuse to eat more unless you are done with fat loss.

These numbers below vary on weight and conditioning but it’s just a little fun and for a reminder.

(Based on 160 pound lbs/General conditioning)

-Spreading Dirt with Shovel-17 mins
-Pushing Lawn Mower-15 mins
-Walking for Pleasure-30 mins
-Cooking-Lightly-40 mins
-Shopping-30-mins
-Scrubbing Floors/Windows-20 mins
-Walking the Dog-25 mins
-Treading water-Light effort-20 mins

So instead of worrying about only fitting in your HIIT or your new EDT program and crashing, go for a swim or walk, get outside, and burn some calories on the natural.

    What about a standup desk? Standing vs sitting racks up burnt calories pretty fast.

    Cool! I guess Internet shopping does not count! LOL! No really, good post. I’d like to see one about what NEAT is. Like, does bouncing my leg while sitting count? I work in Pathology and sit at a microscope alot, but I try to get up and move. Also, I have to go on procedures where I must wear a lead apron-I use that time waiting for the Doctor to do calf raises since I am in lead!!! Just wondering about other things to do to try and increase my NEAT. Does squeezing and releasing muscles help? Like the glutes and abs? I try to do that to and be more aware of my movements!

  5. Roland-Yeah trying to implement standing in general gives a small increase. Just little changes like standing when on the phone, eating, reading.

    However there are SOME activities you may want to keep seated….
