(HFCS) High Fructose Corn Syrups-New Sweet Surprise Commercials

By the end of this post you will never be confused about what is good and bad to eat again.

I don’t know if you have caught the new commercials on tv, but apparently corn was starting to get a little bitter about their constant bad press. It isn’t that I disagree really, I just think it is funny as an industry, as a country, that we are making pro High Fructose Corn Syrup ads. That is just the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.

To quickly note, sugar isn’t just sugar. Nothing is ever that black and white, but, is HFCS going to kill you, are they right? The short answer is, under current research, there is no danger with intake of HFCS on small levels. If looking for a interesting take on various HFCS study information hop over to Alan Aragon’s Research Review for the August edition. It might just surprise you.

I will be the first to admit that I have “feelings” about substances. My feelings about substances that you take into your body are pretty simple. I am going to do you the favor of sharing with you…the system. I have a rating system that I have designed that without a doubt will allow me to make, on average, the best food decisions. I guide by this rating system everyday. Sure, there are occasions where I have intake that goes against this rating, however it is rare and it is by just personal choice, not phobia.

Are you ready for my rating system that will help you guide by what to eat and what not to eat on a daily basis?

The System:

Eat Often=Foods that have a lot vitamins, minerals,  and nutrients.
Eat Little=Foods that don’t.

That is the system.

Ask not what your food does to you, but what your food does for you.

I have not seen those ads yet, what a hoot!! I have been avoiding HFCS for a couple of years now cause I read somewhere it made cellulite worse and I sure did not want that! But I can’t tell where not eating it has helped. So even though I don’t go eat it whole hog anymore, I don’t fear the cocktail sauce that has it in it!! I will try to go read Alan’s review. Thanks for the funny start to my day!
Oh and I so agree with the System – love it!!!

Ha! Too funny … you stand by the KISS principle!!

I saw that ad the other night … and I wasn’t totally sure that’s what it was for, but the second time I saw it, I paid closer attention and it was more obvious.

    Ridiculous.

  4. They are really really hilarious, I can’t wait till one pops up on Youtube. I may make a drawing mockery football play style.

Just saw the sweet add and looked at their web site. I am in Charleston, SC. So much deception. So much harm.

  6. I just saw this too!! I laughed so hard. “I thought you loved me.” “I do, take two bites.” Ha.

They are absolutely right. In moderation, HFCS is safe.

Unfortunately it’s in everything from ketchup, to soft drinks, to breakfast cereal…and, believe it or not, honey SAUCE from KFC. If only we could ingest it in moderation. The evil lies in how HFCS is metabolized in the liver and the damage it can do to the liver.

With a quick search, here’s one link I found.

They are right. Use in moderation. READ your labels

  8. Hey Randy, thanks for stopping by.

It is sad that it is taking over all foods, but, we shouldn’t really be living off of cardboard boxed food either. It makes you question, really didn’t the box and all the ingredients let us know better anyway?

That being said, from many standpoints I disagree with its use but I also think that those trying to produce propaganda to scare people with false science claims is bad as well. The Weston Price is notorious for radical “holistic” views and cherry picking study information and also have an agenda. The truth is, as I said, there is no study information to show that in moderate amounts it can do any damage and the only things that show a problem in any fashion were under pretty unrealistic conditions.

Again, eat real foods, try and live a healthy life, and HFCS will be the least of your problems.
