This is not the regularly scheduled post. I am going to post up that next series later tonight.
On the 26th as you know I am launching the new Fat Loss Troubleshoot books. As with any product you are launching you have to do marketing, publicity, interviews, etc. It isn’t a bad thing, I actually like talking to other people and chatting about this stuff. However, this is the first time I have ever been on this side of it, really gotten hands on in launching my work. Boy, did it open up a can a worms I could have only imagined.
For those of you who follow my work, really follow me and my work, know that I am a fun person, I just take research and my work very seriously. I try and be the best at what I do. No really, I have an ego about my work like you wouldn’t believe. Jonathan Fass and I were talking about this on the fitcast this week. He said “I hate losing” and to that I say “Amen.” I hate losing, I hate being wrong. I will fight to the death to make sure that I am right and not for the sake of being right. You will rarely hear me say the phrase “absolute” and if I do, you can be assured, it is.
Sometimes though, when you are like this, you will hold on to things, friends, and beliefs you shouldn’t. When you care so much about winning you will sometimes become narrowminded on that target so hard that you miss the big picture. Then one day, you get a wake up call.
In the Karate Kid at the end of the movie the Cobra Kai Sensei demands of one of his students to take a cheap shot. The student loyal to his teacher does so, after all he is the master. He is the best at what he does. There is no defying his power or his skill. To them he is their Karate Master and they obey.

The kid (Bobby) takes a cheap shot at Daniel but at the end of the day Daniel is victorious. What most people don’t notice in the movie (movies when you include the sequel beginning) are two things. 1. Bobby instantly realizes in that moment that his blind following left him carrying out a bad deed. He is instantly regretful and likely forever changed. 2. In the very first part of the sequel the Sensei loses the power of his students. The mask was revealed and no longer were they under his teachings. He may have been good, but he has no heart. No heart doesn’t make up for knowledge and skill.
In life things are usually never as clear as they are in the movies. The bad guys aren’t always wearing black and the lines can blur so much that they become blobs on the pavement. The only thing you can do, the only thing that you can guide by in your life is heart. The only thing you can guide by in life is compassion. My point is this…
Good doesn’t have to be righteous.
Rebellion isn’t always justified.
Guts can mean stupid.
Simple can be brilliant.
Wrong can be surround in rays of right.
There comes a time in your life where you have to make a choice. For me this week those choices were black and white. They were right and wrong. I choose right.
PS-Please help get the word out about The Fat Loss Troubleshoot, remember we are the good guys.

Hey Leigh maybe we could organize an attack! Hit all the forums, blogs, post everywhere we can about the Fat Loss Troubleshoot to get the word out. I know that a lot of us are members to different forums. I don’t suggest we spam but if we are already members we could make a post.
Everyone get a list together of forums they post at and then on the 26th we can collectively post there and bump it until mid-night. What do you say guys?
I don’t think JP will be hard
Leigh, let me know what I can do to help this launch be successful. I believe in you and your work, and want to help if and how I can!
Miyagi: Go, find balance.
Miyagi: Banzai, Daniel-san.
Daniel: Hey, banzai!
Miyagi: Banzai!
Daniel: Banzai!
Miyagi: Banzai!
Daniel: Banzai!
You are my Miyagi, let me know when/where/how loud you want me to scream Banzai!!(or Fat Loss Troubleshoot!!)
James, count me in.

Me, too. I’m in 100%. No one who reads your work and has followed could ever doubt that you are the good guys. Again and again you go above and beyond the call and you go out of your way to help others. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but I think that your analogy of the Karate Kid is right. Hold on, Grasshopper, and keep following your heart and doing what’s right. We’ll be here every step of the way to do whatever we can to help.
Ha that is a really awesome gesture guys. I would be honored to have any of your words or support.
PS-I think would should all get together for a Karate Kid Marathon.
PSS-The Next Karate Kid with Hilary Swank totally counts. Come on, the praying mantis position = Priceless.
Me too…or three or four? Thanks again, Leigh.
Leigh does this have anything to do with why all of a sudden your links and ads are gone?
That wasn’t a cut just so you know. I am curious is all.
Did I hear a cavarly bugle call for “Charge!!”???
The troops are ready, just give us the orders!!!
Count me in Leigh! I used your books to get the last bit of fat off and I can’t wait for the new release.
I only talk on 1 forum (bodybuilding.com) but I will definitely say something. Your material is great!
I’m here all 1 good leg and 2 crutches of me + all my spirit supports you; you have proven sincere in words and actions.
What. Are the corporate boogie men out to buy your soul?
Etana

I think the foot surgery went perfectly; the recovery will be long with ups and downs: 6 weeks’ total non weight bearing, then another 6 in a boot. Eight of those weeks on a walker (now) or crutches… With my new velcro cast setting my foot flexed at a 90degree angle since yesterday, I’ve been having calf and back pains, don’t know if that’s normal or not. My pain is mostly from foot inflammation, and now the calf/back pain from the boot.
I’m eating maintenance very healthy foods, about 1600 cal, and logging them in fitday. I’m trying to work at home (I’m an illustrator at the US GAO), so that is great, but I’m not getting around beyond couch-bathroom-couch really.

Sinead,
Thanks for checking in with me
Here’s an update for anyone who wants to read it.

The surgeon put me in a velcro boot Friday/yesterday and now besides the inflammation pain, I also have pain in my calf and lower back from having my foot in the boot flexed 90 degrees. I don’t know if this is normal or not, or will pass soon. I expect to have different pains at different stages of recovery. I have 6 weeks to rest non weight bearing, and then 2 weeks in a boot on crutches, then 4 weeks in a boot no crutches. During the last 6 wks I will have Physical Therapy. A long haul. more details at the link.
My food has been very clean and healthy; I’m eating maintenance. I’m so glad I dropped about 12 pounds since my high weight, ’cause at this weight/size my pants all fit and I don’t mind looking in the mirror. No exercise at all now. I’ll get in touch with Julie Keen and see if I should start mobility now, and what.
The surgeon said very little. He answered my questions but didn’t give me a plan of movement for the time I’m non weight bearing really. He’s just dealing with the foot. He said I can massage it and move it up and down and massage my toes.
thanks again for the thought. Etana
