I LOVE FREE STUFF!!
When I think of the word ” future” I think of getting older. I think of my 4 kids and where they will be. Will they be happy and healthy? Where will I be? Will I be happy and healthy? I hope and pray that God gives me the strength everyday to do what he has intended me to do here on earth. I pray that my health is good so I can live to see my grandchildren. When I think of the future I see myself with my family , living each day to love others and do the things that bring honor to Christ. I hope to be one of those ” hip” old grannies that is FULL of life and energy. Those are the things I think of when I think of my future!
Shari!
To me, the word “future” means potential. The potential is there for everyone to have a fantastic, fulfilling life or a dull, mediocre one. The future is highly affected by the present. We are all given the opportunities and choices to make great futures for ourselves. Every day, I have choices to make that determine what direction my future takes. There are so many options that I am constantly presented with, from food and exercise choices to work and education decisions, all of which will have some form of impact on my future. With the knowledge of what needs to be done, I take steps that bring me closer to achieving my goals. I try to make the best choices for myself with the intention that it will benefit me in the future. I look to the future with interest, optimism and excitement. My wish is for a future of continuous learning, love, and good health. The potential is there – it is up to me to achieve it.
Future, as the word implies is what hasn’t happened yet. To me the future equals opportunity and hope. I personally am very goal oriented, therefore the future gives me a strange sense of comfort as I know I will only continue to challenge and stretch myself, ensuring I continue to keep improving all facets of my life. I like to believe that the future also equals opportunity for experience. Character is built through both positive and negative experiences. I try to keep the mindset that all experiences can indeed be good if I am able to learn something from them. The future is my reason for getting out of bed everyday.
The future is a terrifying, exhilirating, limitless opportunity. It’s an opportunity to be the best me possible, an opportunity to turn great ideas into consistent action. We ofen mistake the future as this mystical something later, as in tommorrow, as in next week, or as in “we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it. But the future is really (pause) right now. The future is rushing at us constantly, and each instant, each moment we are alive, is the future, arriving on powerful wings. The future is now, the only question is what will we do with it?
For me that means, going to the gym TODAY. Adding one more rep to each exercise, or adding 5 pounds to each side of the bar. It means exercising self control and hitting my caloric goals and protein goals TODAY, because today, the future freshly discovered, is all we really have. Each today as it comes is the future in progress, and how we create good habits. The future to me means taking massive action every day to grow my SAT coaching business, to under promise and over deliver to my clients, to make time for my family and friends. The future is coming. The future is now.

Ok, I haven’t read everybody else’s comments yet (except Etana’s) because I wanted my thoughts to be my own…
Future, for me, is full of hope. I see a future where I am healthy and happy, where I can run around with my kids and climb trees and just do whatever, where I can walk into any store and pick out an outfit without having to be worried that I won’t find my size, where I will finally be the me on the outside that I have always been on the inside. I see the future as the place where I will finally win this battle with obesity and use my journey as fuel and a learning experience to ever go back. I see my future as a place where I am a positive role model for my kids, my family, my friends…random people who might know me–I want to be the one people think of when they think, “Well, if she can do, then maybe I can, too!” I don’t have a deadline to get to this future (though, of course, I hope that it’s sooner rather than later) because I know that it is within my reach and that I can attain it. I have the tools and the support and the knowledge and the determination to make my imagined future a reality. With all of those things on my side, how can I do anything but be a success, really?
I love what everyone has written!
Josh, yours especially, had me all revved up. I can see that you would do well as a coach (whatever kind).
Jim- Thanks for posting that, I am sure everyone will appreciate it.
Shari- Thank you for your thoughts, I am sure your kids will be happy and healthy with you as there mom.
Anna- I completely agree with you, the choices we make every day determine our future.
JC- “The future is my reason for getting out of bed everyday” what a great line. I think the future is such a wonderful thing, because it is not set in stone.
Josh- Thank you for commenting. I think the future is effected by everything we do “now” and since we are in control of what we do, then so is our future.
Etana- the site is working now.
Sinead- “I don’t have a deadline to get to this future” I think that is an amazing line, and I know that you will reach your goal, because even with a “pit stop” you are still thinking about finishing the race.
Thanks, Leigh.
Hey, does all the baby kicking I’m feeling count as NEAT? It’s happening inside me, after all.
