What are you owed? What do you think you are owed?

I have a bunch of podcasts coming up. You would be so proud.
Today we have a special non-question podcast rant that I wanted to go off on about what we as people think we are owed in the area of fat loss.
Fat Loss Troubleshooter Speaks: What are you owed and how do you get it?
Question of the day:
Do you think the goals you have are realistic? What defines unrealistic? How much of realism do you think we should acknowledge and how much do we ignore?

Thanks for the podcasts! I was going into withdrawal! Can’t wait to listen and get back on those questions of the day

OK, I have listened and must agree with it all and I have been guilty of this “I should be able to…” mindset in the past. As a nation, and not just in fat loss, we are a bunch of “I am owed thus and such”. I now know I have to EARN those calories, just like I have to earn money to buy that Gowear Fit that I am saving up for!
As for the questions, I don’t think my goals are unrealistic in one sense; I want to lose 10 pounds fat and have Jillian Michaels/Terminator arms; Some days I think they are unrealistic in that I don’t know if I have what it takes to do the work. An unrealistic goal for me is to want to have a thin midsection (my ribcage is large)or a JLo butt! I have a flat pancake butt and really don’t think tons of squats and things like that will help that much!!! But I try to envision the best that MY body could be (Leigh, what do YOU think, if you remember my body from the body fat videos THAT YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED!!
I would love your opinion on what would be a reasonable “look” for me or whose look I could realistically achieve. But to me, trying to have another body type and obsessing over that is unrealistic. Or getting my results by next week or month; as much as I want that so bad right now, it is totally unrealistic.
And I think that we should acknowledge what we can achieve and ignore those voices that tell us to try to do unrealistic things.
Thanks Leigh for this!!

Love it!
My goals–yep, I think they’re realistic. I know that it’ll take me a while (probably a long while) to reach my goal, but I plan to enjoy the journey, too. Heck, any progress will get me closer to where I want to be, so what’s wrong with that? I didn’t put this weight on overnight; what kind of idiot would I be to expect to lose it that way?!
What would be unrealistic for me? Thinking that I could look like Paris Hilton or Kate Moss or any of those kinds of folks. Nope, not me at 5′10″ and large-framed. I think that with lots of effort and patience and hard work that I can look more like Jessica Biel, though, and that’s a look I’d prefer anyway!

I hope this means more regular Leigh blogs again!
“Do you think the goals you have are realistic? What defines unrealistic? How much of realism do you think we should acknowledge and how much do we ignore?”
I think my problem is I don’t know what is realistic or not! Some people tell me that I am already thin enough as it is but I feel like I have more weight to lose and I wont be anyone close to a lohan or richie!
We can’t trust BMI, is there a better method?

“Owed” was one of my favourite podcasts so far. Wow – you really are great! I mean, it’s critical for me to be reminded that I’m on this FL journey for ME. The minute I start feeling sorry for myself is the minute things come to a grinding halt and I slam into a wall of solid chocolate.
I would love to hear you talk more about what realistic goals are too – what BF% is “reasonable” to MAINTAIN after fat loss with moderate-to-intense training, potential injuries, life happening, and not counting calories to the end of time? I know that genetics and lifestyle play a big part, but I’d like to know your thoughts

Hey Leigh, great podcast! I was wondering about the “calorie tracker” that you referenced in the podcast. I’ve heard you mention them before, but have never seen them anywhere. Any suggestions on where to look for one, or what a good brand would be? Thanks
