yay A podcast! I was looking for another way to procrastinate this morning! Off to listen…
awesome podcast. Love the advice!
I keep having more thoughts.
I swear, one of these days my brain will come back. So yeah, I’m super excited by Desperate to Lose! (Of course, now I’m thinking that might not be the exact wording of the title, but whatever–you know what I mean.) It sounds like a great read!
Very helpful information! Thank you!
Leigh I really needed to listen to this right now. Thanks so much you are the best as always.
Yay Podcast! I am going to go listen now!
Hopefully this wont come in handy this week
Leigh has the challenge started yet? Are we going to see the updates?
Great podcast today Leigh! You need to update more often!
Sinead- I am glad you liked it, hopefully the things you write will make since soon.
Karen and Sally- Thanks for listening
Amy- I hope it doesn’t
Perry- Yes it has, well it isn’t a challenge it is a program. No it will not be updated on the blog, but I promise you will all see it soon
Gina- Thanks I will.
A related issue is food we can’t trust ourselves around and always triggers a binge. For me this is potato chips and to a lesser degree bread. There’s been talk on another forum about someone who conquered her demons and can have small portions. I’d like to be there but I’m not. I’ve been doing well over the last six months, and the two large overfeeds happened once around chips and once around a mix of baked chips/ pita bread, exactly a month apart, which makes me wonder if some hormonal stuff is going on? Both times were about 1000 calories over my usual, eat a little lighter for a few days, move on. I’m down 14 lbs in that time, so I do think I’m achieving a deficit in general. My point for posting is to ask, Leigh, if you think the food itself plays a role, since you didn’t mention that.
Oops, that was supposed to be 6 weeks, not 6 months.
Good lord thank you so much for this – I have never seen this topic addressed in so much detail and it is so needed right now! Thank you very much
Leigh – That was a great podcast and I could relate – especially to the “owe” part. I recently got the Gowear and it has helped me, mostly mentally, to lose that mindset; now I know what I deserve!!I figured my burn would be really really low, but I was pleasantly surprised; this did so much to boost my spirits. It has been around 2300 to 2500. I had already started moving way more due to wearing a pedometer, but this has really helped me. You mentioned on the Gowear thread on JP that you were doing some studies with it a while back, did you ever finish those? What were the results? Is the Gowear fairly accurate? I have so many things to ask about concerning this; you mentioned the “Ask Leigh” section on FLzine, but for the life of me, I can’t find it. (but remember, I am a dork) otherwise, I would not ask you here!
But thanks for the great podcast and I hope I was not one of the people you hoped would not find you on Facebook!! :>
Leigh-
I’m not really sure about WHAT I want to say except that your podcast about this subject (a particularly tough and guilt-ridden one for me) has profoundly helped me. Just knowing that there are enough other people out there (including you!) who wrestle with the “whole-evil-binge-I-am-such-a-weak-and-crappy-person-thing,” makes an enormous difference to my mindset. I feel like I can be much more forgiving of myself when those “detours” (I love that instead of “cheat”)happen, and I know they still will. I hope that next time I’m dealing with the self hate that usually is hard on the heels of one of these incidents, I will have the presence of mind to remember what you said and even dig it out of my computer so that I can listen to it again, and again.
Well, I guess I did figure out something to say after all (never really a problem, you know)…
Thank you for being you and doing what you do, you’ve made so much a difference in my life in the last few months since I’ve gotten your awesome FLTS book. One of my favorite things about you is how accessible you make yourself to “your people.” This can seem like such a long and lonely road sometimes, it’s nice to have someone to talk to along the way…:):):)
Ooh, a new podcast! Thank you Leigh – I’m going to go listen to it right now.
You guys are awesome. I forget how much people like the podcasts. I promise to make them more of a priority.
Thanks for the kind words.
They just make us happy.
Very, very excited about the book that you spewed out in some downtime.
Your experiences are what drove your existing books so this cannot be anything but insightful….
Thanks for the podcasts, again.
